5C Network and BPL Medical Technologies launch ‘BPL Cortex’

5C Network and BPL Medical Technologies, a pioneer in indigenous medical device manufacturing has announced the launch of BPL Cortex-digital X-ray solution with OEM-embedded Bionic AI. This is the first time 5C Network’s Bionic AI suite has been ported directly onto a digital X-ray device as an integrated OEM solution in India.

The launch of BPL Cortex to transform standard X-ray machines into intelligent diagnostic hubs capable of generating preliminary radiology findings in under 60 seconds, helping streamline diagnostic workflows and improve turnaround time for care delivery. BPL Cortex will integrate 5C Network’s proprietary Bionic  Vision algorithms directly into BPL’s flagship digital radiography systems. 

Under this launch, BPL Cortex introduces a set of advanced capabilities designed to support radiologists and clinicians with faster, structured insights, including:

• Instant AI analysis: Automatically detects and characterizes 200+ thoracic pathologies, including pneumothorax, pleural effusion, and fractures, with high precision.

• Automated pre-report drafting: Generates a comprehensive draft radiology pre-report (pre-read) with “Observation” and “Impression” sections, enabling quick review, edits, and finalisation by radiologists.

• Configurable pathology thresholds: Enables qualified professionals to adjust AI sensitivity using user-configurable thresholds, allowing a customised balance between false positives and false negatives.

• Key image insertion: Allows radiologists to insert snapshots of AI-identified abnormalities directly into the final report for improved clinical clarity.
